Purple Mystic spores are a classic Psilocybe cubensis variety known for consistent research, making it ideal for beginners. The Purple Mystic mushroom originates from East Plant City Florida. According to the original cultivator, Purple Mystics have a higher concentration of psilocybin, thus they are more potent than all other Psilocybe cubensis mushroom varieties.

Purple Mystic Mushroom Spore Syringe (Psilocybe cubensis)

Purple Mystic Mushrooms are a well-known Psilocybe cubensis variety originally documented in pastureland near East Plant City, Florida. This strain has been observed growing on both bovine and equine dung in subtropical environments and is recognized for its distinctive pigmentation and consistent morphological traits.

In the wild, Purple Mystic mushrooms are often identified by a subtle purple ring or banding near the cap margin, a feature that inspired the strain’s name. These visible characteristics, combined with its documented origin, have made Purple Mystics a popular subject for mycological study and classification.

Under microscopic examination, Purple Mystic spores display a deep purplish-brown coloration, a hallmark of Psilocybe cubensis. When prepared as multi-spore syringes, dense spore prints may impart a rich purple tint to the sterile solution. The spores are typically sub-ellipsoid in shape, measuring approximately 10–12 × 8 micrometers, and are produced on four-spored basidia, consistent with classic cubensis morphology.

What Do Purple Mystic Mushrooms Look Like?

In nature, Purple Mystic mushrooms are commonly described as having medium-to-large caps that begin rounded or convex and become broader as they mature. Cap coloration can range from light golden brown to a warmer caramel or chestnut shade, often with a darker center and a paler margin.

Mature caps may become broadly convex or nearly flat, producing the open, balanced profile commonly associated with this variety. The stems are typically pale white to cream and may appear relatively tall and slender in comparison with the cap. As with other members of the Psilocybe cubensis species, blue or blue-green discoloration may appear where natural tissue has been handled or damaged.

The “Purple Mystic” name should not be interpreted to mean that the mushroom develops an entirely purple cap. Instead, the name is associated with the variety’s identity and the darker purplish-brown coloration connected with mature spore deposits. Exact macroscopic features may vary naturally between individual specimens and environmental conditions.

*Our Purple Mystic mushroom spores are sold exclusively for lawful microscopy, educational, and taxonomic research. They are not intended for cultivation or human consumption.*

Frequently Asked Questions

Are Purple Mystic mushrooms actually purple?

Unfortunately, Purple Mystic mushrooms are not normally characterized by solid purple caps. :(  The natural caps are more commonly golden brown, caramel, or chestnut, while the variety’s name is associated with its identity and darker purplish-brown mature spore deposits.  However, like we noted above, according to the original cultivator, Purple Mystics have a higher concentration of psilocybin than other cubensis mushrooms.

How should spore syringes be stored?

These Purple mystic spore syringes should be stored in a clean, dark, refrigerated environment between 35°F–46°F or at room temp in a dark room or closet. Do not freeze. When stored properly, spore samples retain full research stability for 9 to 24 months.
